It easily covers the faster motion speeds often seen in video game use, an increasing use case of displays. This is different rating from LCD response time, since MPRT is the true motion resolution including sample-and-hold effect (non-strobed "1ms" and "2ms" LCD's typically have "16.7ms" MPRT at 60Hz).
IIRC one of the big problems with Plasma is input lag. Which generally isn't great for gaming. The input lag was so bad that there were options in blu-ray players and receivers to delay audio against the video so that it would properly sync up while using Plasmas. May 15, 2019. #11.
I would never use a plasma as a desktop monitor because if you are looking for burn in if you say leave word open all day long in the same spot of the screen. However, plasmas are fine in a home theater PC scenario where there is a lot of variation of what's on the screen throughout the day. Jun 6, 2009. #15.
The image produced by my plasmas is IMO aesthetically better than my C2 Oled. I had the two sitting next to each other for a month and realized almost immediately that the plasma appealed to me moreso than the oled. That said, for the "modern gamer" who wants HDR and 4K the oled is the easy choice but for everything else I will take the plasma.
448. Recently started gaming on a Panasonic professional plasma monitor, and it's 60 inches of last generation phospors delivers a stunning image, crt like motion, no haloing or phosphor trails. I readily admit that plasma had to die, and that OLED is a worthy replacement, but I sure would have enjoyed seeing what Pioneer and Panasonic had in ...
Recently, new strobe backlights have been invented that manage to allow LCD to have better motion resolution than a plasma, without the disadvantage of plasma input lag. (Plasma is still better for color quality, but this is for people who care more about maximum motion resolution).
Works like a charm. However, when I try to use a plasma TV as a computer monitor via HDMI, without fail, I can not get the desired "XXXXp" resolution. Example: I run my GTX260 into a 720p/1080i plasma, and at 1280x720 the screen is cut off on all sides--the mouse will still move there, I just can't see anything.
Scalability - The largest CRT displays are smaller compared to the more accessible Plasma options, and we cant deny a larger screen can deliver superior immersion. Uniformity - Due to the nature of the electron beam and mask, it's impossible to get perfect focus from corner to corner, perfect convergence, purity and geometry.
A few years ago, I believe I remember reading that it was a bad idea in general to use a Plasma as a monitor (can't really remember the reasons).
5,615. no it is not overkill.. i gamed with my ps5 on a 1440p monitor (meaning my PS5 was running at 1080p since it doesn't support 1440p like Xbox) and i was very pleased with how games looked on it. clearly native 4k would be better, but you could definitely see the improved image quality via super sampling (i.e. the higher res image being ...
