DR. Mahdi S. Hantush (1921–1984) was a prominent Iraqi-born American hydrologist known for his analytical work on leaky aquifers and well hydraulics. He was the founder of the New Mexico Tech Hydrology Program. His granddaughter is Yasmin Younis, the 2018 Student Commencement Speaker at Boston University’s 185th Commencement, which went ...
The Dupuit–Forchheimer assumption holds that groundwater flows horizontally in an unconfined aquifer and that the groundwater discharge is proportional to the saturated aquifer thickness. It was formulated by Jules Dupuit and Philipp Forchheimer in the late 1800s to simplify groundwater flow equations for analytical solutions.
the aquifer material is incompressible (no change in matrix due to changes in pressure — aka subsidence), the water is of constant density (incompressible), any external loads on the aquifer (e.g., overburden, atmospheric pressure) are constant, for the 1D radial problem the pumping well is fully penetrating a non-leaky aquifer,

In hydrology, a well test is conducted to evaluate the amount of water that can be pumped from a particular water well.More specifically, a well test will allow prediction of the maximum rate at which water can be pumped from a well, and the distance that the water level in the well will fall for a given pumping rate and duration of pumping.

An aquifer is a body of permeable rock that can contain or transmit groundwater. Aquifer susceptibility is the inherent ability of a formation to accept and transmit liquids (potentially including contaminants). [1] Certain areas of the United States are becoming more reliant on groundwater to meet the needs of the population. [2]
