After technical education developed into a state-wide TAFE NSW network of colleges, eventually a separate Department of Technical Education was established in 1949. [ 1 ] In 1957 a committee was appointed to survey secondary education in New South Wales to survey and report on the provision of full-time education for adolescents.
TAFE NSW is an Australian vocational education and training provider. Annually, the network trains over 500,000 students in campus, workplace, online, or distance education methods of education. It was established as an independent statutory body under the TAFE Commission Act 1990.
The Minister administered the portfolio through the Department of Public Instruction, which became the Department of Education in 1915. [5] In 2015 the functions of TAFE NSW were transferred from the education portfolio to the industry, portfolio only to return to the education portfolio in 2019. [6]

The minister supports the Minister for Education and Early Learning, Prue Car.
