The Kawasaki Z650 (known as KZ650 in North America) was produced as a 652 cc (39.8 cu in) standard motorcycle by Kawasaki from 1976 until 1983. It had a four-cylinder four-stroke , DOHC , air-cooled , wet sump engine positioned across the frame with two valves per cylinder and a five-speed gearbox.

The 1980 Kawasaki Z1000H was the first mass-produced fuel-injected motorcycle in the world and also Kawasaki's first fuel injected motorcycle. It was based on the KZ1000A3/A4 Mk.II frame and body work, with a unique black/gold/white colour scheme and gold mag wheels . I am missing a model, the 1978 Z650-D1 (SR), which is the predecessor of the 1979 Z650-D2 (SR). The D1 was only offered in one color (Candy Persimmon Red), the D2 was also offered in Midnight Blue. Other differences include the brake system (the D2 had new brakes from the C3, and discs with some holes in them) and some small things enginewise.

The original Kawasaki KZ400 was a 398 cc twin cylinder motorcycle produced from 1974 to 1984. The engine had twin balancer shafts to reduce vibration, one in front of the crankshaft and one to the rear, both moving in the opposite direction to the rotating crankshaft.
