Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth [a] is a 2024 role-playing video game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega.The game is the ninth mainline entry of the Like a Dragon series, serving as a direct sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon (2020) and a spin-off of Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name (2023).
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii takes place six months after the events of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (2024), and features ex-Tojo Clan yakuza Goro Majima (Hidenari Ugaki/Matthew Mercer) as the sole playable character. Through unknown circumstances, Majima has been stranded on Rich Island, with no memories of his past life.
Yakuza utilizes quick time events during the fights. While Kamurocho's map shows the linear path to continue the main story, the player may take on missions and side quests found around the city. The game is composed of three interconnected modes called Event, Adventure and Battle. In Encounter Battles, the player randomly encounters foes.
The game was conceived to expand further on Kiryu's backstory between the events of Yakuza: Like a Dragon and its 2024 sequel, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. As such, the story of the game follows from Yakuza 6: The Song of Life then merges with the storyline of Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
