Blue Star 1 is a Greek ferry, which is owned by Blue Star Ferries. She is a motor Ro-Ro/Passenger ferryboat, built in 2000 by Van der Giessen de Noord shipward in Krimpen aan den IJssel, Netherlands. [1] [2] [3] She is a sistership to Blue Star 2. She holds a total of 1600 passengers and 640 vehicles and has 430 beds in 161 cabins for passengers.
In January 2020 the Nissos Chios was renamed Blue Star Chios together with its sister ship Nissos Mykonos, which was renamed Blue Star Mykonos, after the ships changed service from Hellenic Seaways to Blue Star Ferries. There was a 1967-built Greek passenger-car ferry with the same name. The old Nissos Chios was scrapped in 2006. [3]

Together with Blue Star Ferries, ANEK Lines and Hellenic Seaways, it is a subsidiary company of Attica Group, which is listed on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In 1999 the ship moves to the hands of the newly created Blue Ferries (known today as Blue Star Ferries) which was created by Strintzis Lines as their subsidiary company. In March 2011, the ferry was sold to the then newly founded Golden Star Ferries ferry company. For 10 straight years, the ship sailed in the same route.
