The Norton Anthology of Modern and Contemporary Poetry is an anthology of two volumes edited by Jahan Ramazani, Richard Ellmann (1918–1987), and Robert O'Clair. The anthology is large, with 1,100 pages in each of the two volumes. Volume I, about modern poetry, and Volume II, contemporary poetry. Essays on poetics are included in each volume. [1]

The Penguin Book of Contemporary British Poetry is a poetry anthology edited by Blake Morrison and Andrew Motion, and published in 1982 by Penguin Books.. Shortly after its publication, Morrison acknowledged the criticisms made towards the anthology, including that it was "merely 'fashionable'" and the "committee English" of its introduction. [1]

The Penguin poetry anthologies, published by Penguin Books, have at times played the role of a "third force" in British poetry, less literary than those from Faber and Faber, and less academic than those from Oxford University Press.
The Oxford Book of Twentieth Century English Verse is a poetry anthology edited by Philip Larkin. It was published in 1973 by Oxford University Press with ISBN 0-19-812137-7. Larkin writes in the short preface that the selection is wide rather than deep; and also notes that for the post-1914 period it is more a collection of poems, than of poets.
