The Yale Bulldogs are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Yale University, located in New Haven, Connecticut.The school sponsors 35 varsity sports. The school has won two NCAA national championships in women's fencing, four in men's swimming and diving, 21 in men's golf, one in men's hockey, one in men's lacrosse, and 16 in sailing.
McLaughlin was born in Everett, Massachusetts in 1947. After graduating from Melrose High School, McLaughlin was admitted to study at Yale and majored in economics, and played American football and Lacrosse. Whilst at Yale McLaughlin was crossing campus one day when he was approached by a photographer working for Time magazine.
Yale controlled the tournament finals from start to finish, though Duke kept the game suspenseful to the end. This was Yale’s first NCAA lacrosse title and second title overall. Yale's Ben Reeves tied Eamon McEneaney’s 1977 record for most points in an NCAA tournament with 25 points. McEneaney set the record in three tournament games.

The 2015 Ivy League Men's Lacrosse Tournament took place May 1 to May 3 at Stevenson Field in Providence, Rhode Island. Yale defeated Princeton to win the tournament and received the Ivy League 's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship .
