The Ivy Three were an American pop vocal trio from Garden City, Long Island, New York. The group was formed by three undergraduates at Adelphi University in 1959. They signed to Shell Records ; their first single, "Yogi", was written by Shell founders Lou Stallman and Sid Jacobson along with member Charles Koppelman .
The song was recorded in 1997 at three different recording studios in New York City [1] and included on Ivy's second studio album, Apartment Life, released on October 7, 1997 by Atlantic Records. [2] "This Is the Day" was prominently featured in the 1998 movie comedy There's Something About Mary and was included on the film's soundtrack album. [3]
Ivy signed to Nettwerk to release Long Distance in 2000; [5] [8] the album incorporated music from multiple genres, such as guitar pop, [9] trip hop, [10] and new wave. [11] The third single released, "Edge of the Ocean", became Ivy's first song to enter a musical record chart, peaking at number 160 in the United Kingdom. [12]
