The Great Lakes Bible College acquired the house in 1958, and occupied it until 1972 when it moved to another campus. The city of Lansing purchased the property in 1974. In the 1990s and 2000s, substantial renovation was done to the house. The house is open as a historical site, heritage center, and hosts special events. [4]
The Darius B. Moon House Is a two-and-one-half-story, Queen Anne-style house with a cross-gable-and-hip roof topped with a prominent three-story, square tower. Ornamental tin cresting runs along the roof ridge, and a tin finial is located at the peak of the tower. A single-story porch is located on one side.

Giles Gilbert was a significant figure in the lumbering business in Stanton in the late 1860s-early 1880s. In 1877, he built this house for his own use, and lived there until 1882, when he moved to Mecosta, Michigan, to continue lumbering. The house in Stanton was later owned by James Willet, another prominent lumberman and mayor of Stanton. 2
