The designed–emergent duality focuses on time and captures the tension between pre-planned and emergent activities. Designers can plan an activity that is designed to achieve a particular purpose however, some activities emerge through interaction and participation of the community; these are unplanned and may be contrary to what the designers intended.
In mathematics, a duality, generally speaking, translates concepts, theorems or mathematical structures into other concepts, theorems or structures, in a one-to-one fashion, often (but not always) by means of an involution operation: if the dual of A is B, then the dual of B is A.
This article or section appears to contradict itself on the definition of ethical dualism, and use two different definitions as if they are the same. The examples in religion reflect the definition that there are sources of good and evil, and not the definition that some people are purely good and others are purely evil .
For example, let’s say you borrow $10,000 from your bank in a straightforward loan with a 10 percent interest rate per annum (meaning per year), and the loan is payable in five years.
In the philosophy of mind, mind–body dualism denotes either that mental phenomena are non-physical, [1] or that the mind and body are distinct and separable. [2] Thus, it encompasses a set of views about the relationship between mind and matter, as well as between subject and object, and is contrasted with other positions, such as physicalism and enactivism, in the mind–body problem.
One of these dualities is T-duality. For example, it was shown that type IIA string theory is equivalent to type IIB string theory via T-duality and also that the two versions of heterotic string theory are related by T-duality. The existence of these dualities showed that the five string theories were in fact not all distinct theories.
beyond all dualities. It is whole, infinite being, consciousness and bliss. One should meditate on that reality, within the flaming light of consciousness. Fixing the mind upon me, as the Goddess transcending all space and time, One quickly merges with me by realizing, the oneness of the soul and Brahman. —
A diagram of string theory dualities. Yellow arrows indicate S-duality. Blue arrows indicate T-duality. These dualities may be combined to obtain equivalences of any of the five theories with M-theory. [9] Theories that arise as different limits of M-theory turn out to be related in highly nontrivial ways.
