IAT is conducted as a computer based test in the centers across India. IAT consists of 60 questions: 15 questions each from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. Total time for answering the test is 3 hours. Questions are of multiple choice type with only one correct answer. Each correct answer is awarded 4 marks.

According to Darshan Joshi (BS MS 2007 batch), during its first few editions, Mimamsa was just an activity of Science Club of IISER Pune (another brainchild of students of the 2007 batch). The philosophy of Mimamsa is encrypted in the name itself which literally means investigation, inquiry and in-depth analysis.
IISER Bhopal hosted the 4th Inter IISER Sports Meet (IISM 2015), 9 institutes participated in this event ( 6 IISERs, IISc, NISER, CBS Mumbai). The institute also organised a Summer Outreach Camp from 15th May- 21st May, 2022. Roughly 95 students had attended the camp from all over India for the same. IISER Bhopal hosts two annual festivals.

The day usually ends with a 'panel discussion' in which the school students ask science-related questions to a panel of faculty members of IISER Mohali. Since 2015, the Science Day celebrations have been shifted to 27 September, IISER Mohali's Foundation Day, as this date is more convenient for school students in the region.
