It is believed by old Jewish traditions the children of Adam and Eve numbered 56. Adam had 33 sons and 23 daughters. Here is a link to the works of Josephus, where this appears: The number of Adam's children, as says the old tradition was thirty-three sons, and twenty-three daughters. Share. Improve this answer.
The Bible doesn’t say where Adam and Eve’s first two sons — Cain and Abel — got their wives, although it does tell us that Cain and his wife had at least one child (Enoch). The usual assumption is that Cain and Abel married their sisters. (Later this was forbidden by the Old Testament, but was necessary at the beginning of the human race.)
Adam and Eve's first child was Cain, and the second Abel, by virtue of Genesis 4. Genesis 4 also suggests that Seth was not born until after Cain killed Abel, an act that could not have occurred in the Garden. Genesis 5 says that Adam was 130 when Seth was born, so that establishes an upper limit for the length of the time on the garden.
17. The Bible actually indicates that Adam and Eve did, in fact, have daughters. This is the book of the generations of Adam. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. 2 Male and female he created them, and he blessed them and named them Man when they were created. 3 When Adam had lived 130 years, he fathered a son in his own ...
God told Adam and Eve to "be fruitful and multiply." That's what he wanted them to do. Adam and Eve being 'so innocent' had nothing to do with them being unable to follow through on what God told them to do. "It seems to me that initially God didn't want billions of humans, just two." Of course he wanted more: he asked for more.
The issue of Adam and Eve being unable to have children is an interesting theological question, but I maintain that a person cannot make meaningful progress in understanding that issue, unless and until they understand and accept the basic underlying doctrines of the Fall, human nature, and the Atonement.
So, Adam was created in the image of God, then the image was a bit marred in Genesis 3, and then Adam had a son in his own likeness. So, the Bible is in pretty strong agreement that Adam and Eve were the first people created. The first son of Adam mentioned in Genesis 5, however, is Seth. We are told that Cain and Abel were sons earlier than ...
A: The opening chapters of the Bible tell us that when God created our first parents — Adam and Eve — they lived in a perfect world. And not only was the world perfect, but their relationship with God was perfect also. But God warned them not to eat the fruit of one particular tree, because if they did, death would come upon the human race.
The first woman. In Genesis 3:20 we read, “And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.”. [10] In other words, all people are descendants of Adam and Eve —she was the first woman. Eve was made from Adam’s rib (or side) (Genesis 2:21-24)—this was a unique event.
And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin. Often, it is said that Adam and Eve could not of had children, based on this verse. But the verse says would, not could.
