Tavares (/ t ʌ v ˈ ɛ ə r i z /, tuh-VAIR-ees) is a city and the county seat of Lake County, Florida. [4] The population at the 2020 census was 19,003, [ 5 ] and in 2019 the population was estimated to be 17,749. [ 6 ]
