Montpellier Handball, formerly named Montpellier Agglomération Handball, is a professional handball club from Montpellier, France. Montpellier is the only French club to ever have won the EHF Champions League .
The Palais des Sports was inaugurated in 1977. It is named after René Bougnol, a former fencer from Montpellier who won three Olympic medals in the team foil event (1932, 1936 and 1948). On December 13, 1979, the Australian band AC/DC gave a concert at Bougnol as part of their Highway to Hell tour.
It is administered by the Ligue Nationale de Handball, under delegation from the French Handball Federation. Founded in 1952, it is currently contested by 16 teams. Montpellier Handball is the most successful club with 14 titles, and the club which won the most consecutive titles is Paris Saint-Germain with 9 between 2015 and 2023.
The 2016–17 EHF Champions League was the 57th edition of Europe's premier club handball tournament and the 24th edition under the current EHF Champions League format. Vardar were crowned champions for the first time, defeating Paris Saint-Germain Handball [ 1 ]

Charles Bolzinger (born 14 December 2000) is a French handball player for Montpellier Handball and the French national team. [1] [2] In 2025 he was part of the French team that won bronze medals of the World Championship. They lost the semifinals to Croatia, but won the third place playoff against Portugal.

Pechmalbec began his career in his birth country, France. He shot to prominence with HBC Nantes, where he won the Coupe de France in 2017, in a victory in the final over Montpellier Handball. He was also a runner-up three times in the French top division, and once in the 2017–18 EHF Champions League. [3]
