Jim Baker (1818–1898), known as "Honest Jim Baker", [1] was a frontiersman, trapper, hunter, army scout, interpreter, and rancher. He was first a trapper and hunter. The decline of the fur trade in the early 1840s drove many trappers to quit, but Baker remained in the business until 1855.
In 2010, Fleischli was awarded an honorary doctorate in law from the University of Wyoming. [3] In 2012, he was presented with an award for his community work including organizing a veterans' trip to Washington D.C. [ 4 ] Fleischli died in Cheyenne, Wyoming , on July 21, 2024, at the age of 98.
