Kirkwood Public Library (KPL) primarily serves residents of the city of Kirkwood, Missouri, USA. The library is operated independently, and is a part of the Municipal Library Consortium of St. Louis County (MLC), which connects it to 8 other independently operated libraries in neighboring St. Louis County municipalities.
On May 31, 1996, eight independent public libraries in St. Louis County formed the MLC, including Brentwood Public Library, Ferguson Municipal Public Library, Kirkwood Public Library, Maplewood Public Library, Richmond Heights Memorial Library, Rock Hill Public Library, University City Public Library and Valley Park Community Library.
Kirkwood is an inner-ring western suburb of St. Louis located in St. Louis County, Missouri. As of the 2010 census, the city's population was 27,540. [ 5 ] Founded in 1853, the city is named after James P. Kirkwood , builder of the Pacific Railroad through that city.

The Ferguson Municipal Public Library was founded in June 1930 as a volunteer community library. [4] The Missouri Library Commission contacted Chapter FH of the P.E.O. Sisterhood about starting a public library in Ferguson [4] and the Kirkwood Public Library provided guidance and gifted fifty books. [4]
Kirkwood Community College is a public community college in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with several additional regional and county centers located in Belle Plaine, Coralville, Hiawatha, Monticello, Tipton, Vinton, Washington and Williamsburg.
The largest building in the campus is the main school building (1922) which was expanded in 1924 and 1928. The campus also includes a cafeteria building (1950) and a library building (1964). [2] The main Kirkwood school building is a two-story, H-shaped building in the Colonial Revival style, designed by John F. Downing and completed in 1922. [2]
