    www.smokingmeatforums.com/threads/should-you-take-the-bark-off-wood.260231

A buddy and I did this a few weeks ago. Turned out pretty good. We took a barrel and cut a hole in the side at the bottom and in the center of the lid. Welded up an 8" pipe and put it through the holes and put our fire in the pipe. Stuffed wood all the way around inside and let it go about 5-6 hours.

    19. Southeast Florida. Apr 1, 2024. #1. I have a mature mulberry tree (in addition to mango) and I've used the trimmings over the years in my fire pit but recently I had to trim it back radically due to a large broken branch. Initially I thought I'd easily have a free cord of firepit wood but I read that it's a very good wood for smoking.

    8. Sep 24, 2023. #1. We recently cut down a mango tree in our yard. It was perfectly healthy, just something that unfortunately had to be done. I've looked online to see if anybody has used mango wood for smoking but I haven't found much. I haven't found many people talking about how their food came out, it's mostly people saying they are going ...

I recently together with a friend found a source for olive wood in Spain and we decided to start selling these in chips for smoking. There ain’t nothing wrong with a chainsaw saw going into cooking wood and your wasting your energy if u think the gas saw is bad for the wood over a hand saw. Or are u part of a Amish group?? My customers are always very happy with the wood cut with a chainsaw. And they pay a pretty penny. 25$ per wheel barrow, oak and walnut are 30$.

Nov 14, 2010. 3. 10. Mar 11, 2011. #1. For quite a few years now, I've been using White Poplar sticks exclusively for smoking/cooking. I cut a green tree that is a bit bigger than my thumb, cut it into pieces about 4" long and put a couple or three in the smoke box. I am using a Grill Pro Heavy Duty, but used a Brinkman Smoke-n-Grill for years.

    10. Apr 7, 2014. #7. Mango wood is very sappy when green, still carries the sap when dry, for that reason many avoid it. Also the Mango Tree is in the same botanical family as poison ivy, so many are easily irritated by its fruit and use of its wood. Last edited: Apr 7, 2014.
