Trunk ports carry all Vlans by default so they don't appear in this output. You could use: #show int trunk. #show interface status | i 30. The second command above will probably show port 30 (as it includes anything with 30) but you can just ignore this port unless it also is in Vlan 30.
Hi to all, till now to gather brief information about implemented vlan, especially the description, i use the "show vlan brief" command. During my work i found devices that not support this command but only: show vlans and the output is : Virtual LAN ID: 13 (Inter Switch Link Encapsulation) vLAN Trunk Interface: FastEthernet2/0.13. Sean, A good command to see all the VLAN relations is under vsh_lc (linecard shell) is: show system internal eltmc info vlan brief. Another good command to see the relation of the endpoint to its hardware: show endpoint ip <endpoint ip> detail. Here you will see the encap vlan on the leaf and the set vlan pool.
Perhaps it can be usefull - I did not find any usefull command so far; I am quite sure it can be done much more elegantly :) - this takes a while to finish. Python script to find access ports in a particular VLAN - tried it on n5k... import re; # search strings. vlan_id=13 # vlan to search. init = cli ("show interface brief"); words="";

To add a VLAN to the trunk, issue the switchport trunk allowed vlan add vlan-list command. This example shows how to remove VLANs 5 through 10 and 12. Add VLAN 7 back and verify the allowed VLANs on the trunk link. Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
Configuring VLANs On CAT OS: VLANs are created using the "set vlan" command for CAT OS devices: configuration steps: 1) Issue "set vlan vlan-id [name name]" to create vlan. VLAN 1 is by default the inband (SC0) interface of a switch. 2) Issue "set Vlan {vlan number} {mod-num/port-num}" in order to enter the VLAN membership mode for the port.
11-10-2008 07:19 PM. show vlan command will output configured access ports, your ports 1 and 2. no trunk ports will be shown, your port 3. unconfigured ports by default will be placed in vlan 1. 11-10-2008 08:59 PM. you can't see port 3 in any VLAN bcoz it is configured as a trunk port.
you need a layer 3 switch with the SVIs (Vlan interfaces) do see that. On that layer 3 switch, issue the command: Switch#sh run | include interface Vlan|ip address interface Vlan10 ip address 192.168.10.1 255.255.255.0 interface Vlan20 ip address 192.168.20.1 255.255.255.0 interface Vlan30 ip address 192.168.30.1 255.255.255.0
