Comal Independent School District is a public school district based in New Braunfels, Texas . [1] The district covers 589 square miles (1,530 km 2) in five central Texas counties - Comal, Bexar, Hays, Kendall, and Guadalupe. Incorporated communities in the district include Bulverde, Garden Ridge, and portions of New Braunfels and Schertz.

[ 10 ] As of that time, 15% of students were economically disadvantaged. 56.1% of students enrolled as of the 2021-22 school year were Caucasian, 35.2% Hispanic, 2.7% African American, and 6% other.

Comal was established on the in 1846 along the Old San Antonio Road, and was turned into a section houses for the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad at the turn of the 19th century. In the 1980s and 2000, the community's population was 40. [2] It is also home to a St. Joseph's Church and cemetery. [3]
