LaGuardia Community College was founded on January 22, 1967, by a resolution of the Board of Higher Education of the City of New York, a New York State government agency which was the precursor to the City University of New York's board of trustees. [2]
LaGuardia Community College was the earliest and most active participant in the Wikimedia Education Program from 2012-2017, having incorporated Wikipedia editing assignments into more classes by more professors than any other university in that time period. Professors and classes at LaGuardia continue to use Wikipedia editing as a learning tool.
