Since the school's inception, the "Marching Timberwolves" have won numerous awards in many competitions including their first time on the competition field in Hurricane, WV during the fall of 1998. In fact, the color guard went undefeated in 2010, winning first place at every competition including the biggest one held at Marshall University.
In 1871, when Huntington was founded, [2] the city used a small building on 4th Avenue as their city hall. Later, a larger red brick building was built on 5th Avenue that also housed their city offices, police department , fire department , and the city jail .
