It's two "series," just like Dinosaur King is, but the guide is split into the three seasons that 4Kids divides them into. The reason there was a big gap between the airing of new episodes was because they're two separate seasons - just like every other 4Kids show. 4Kids has 27+ as both the second broadcast season and the second production season.
