The Public Records Office of Ireland c. 1900. In 1867, under the reign of Queen Victoria, the British Parliament passed the Public Records (Ireland) Act 1867 (30 & 31 Vict. c. 70) to establish the Public Record Office of Ireland which was tasked with collecting administrative, court and probate records over twenty years old. [5]
These records date largely from c.1600 to the present day but a few date as far back as the early 13th century, with the oldest document being a bull of Pope Honorius III, dated 1219. Records range from public documents, such as those created by the NI government departments, to private records, such as letters or diaries.

Many died despite the help they received within the city, some 7000 in the city perished within one year.
