Sherman County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 2,782. [1] Its county seat is Stratford. [2] The county was created in 1876 and organized in 1889. [3] It is named for Sidney Sherman, who fought in the Texas Revolution.

SH 15 begins at an intersection with US 287 in Stratford.It travels eastward through the far northern reaches of the Texas Panhandle, mainly through farmlands. The route passes through the towns of Spearman and Perryton, before exiting eastward into Northwest Oklahoma, where the road transitions to Oklahoma State Highway 15.

Stratford High School is a public high school located in Stratford, Texas and classified as a 2A school by the UIL. It is part of the Stratford Independent School District located in central Sherman County. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency. [3]
