Parrottsville is located in northeastern Cocke County. U.S. Route 321, a four-lane highway, passes south of the town, leading southwest 7 miles (11 km) to Newport, the county seat, and northeast 19 miles (31 km) to Greeneville. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.73 square miles (1.9 km 2), all of it land.
