Kyojuro, with enough strength for a last-ditch effort, attempts to keep Akaza restrained long enough for the sun to kill him while also trying to sever his head, but Akaza breaks free, breaking Kyojuro's sword in the process, and escapes into the adjacent forest right before the break of dawn.
However, Upper Three Akaza appears and battles Kyojuro, who dies from his wounds as the demon escapes. Months later, the group is sent to Yoshiwara with Tengen, where they face off and kill the Upper Six siblings Gyutaro and Daki. Tengen retires from the Corps after suffering extensive injuries.

After his wife's death, he spiraled into depression and rejected his duties as Flame Hashira, becoming resentful of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Rengoku manages to prevent any casualties. Rengoku teaches Tanjiro to use his breathing to close his wound and prevent its reopening. The victory is short lived when Akaza, the Upper Rank Three of the Twelve Kizuki, appears and targets Rengoku while making attempts to convince him into renouncing his humanity and become a demon.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (鬼滅の刃, Kimetsu no Yaiba, rgh. "Blade of Demon Destruction") [3] is a Japanese anime television series produced by Ufotable, based on the manga series of the same name by Koyoharu Gotouge.
Adapted from the events of the first season of the anime series, along with Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train, the game's single player story mode follows Tanjiro Kamado, the series' protagonist, as he joins the Demon Slayer Corps and faces off against various demons in order to turn his sister Nezuko, who has become a demon, back into a human.
