In 1928, the Union of Regular Baptist Churches of Ontario and Quebec (led by Thomas Todhunter Shields) broke away from the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec, while the Fellowship of Independent Baptist Churches was formed in 1933. These two merged in 1953 to form the FEBCC.
Evangelical Baptist Church of Pointe-aux-Trembles in Montreal. The union has its origins in a Swiss mission (Mission Grande Ligne) of Henriette Feller and Louis Roussy in Grande-Ligne (becoming Saint-Blaise-sur-Richelieu) in Montérégie, in 1836. [1] That same year, they founded a school which would become the Feller College.
The church was first founded in 1857, the first Baptist congregation in Ottawa. The current church, prominently located at 140 Laurier Avenue West, at the corner of Elgin Street and Laurier Avenue West in Downtown Ottawa , was designed by architect James Mather and constructed 1877-8.
The church was founded in 1888 as an offshoot of First Baptist Church. Its current home was completed in 1893. It is one of Ottawa's best known examples of late-nineteenth century revivalist architecture. The church is named after Rev. Daniel McPhail who served as a minister and itinerant preacher in the Ottawa area for many decades.
At the British Columbia Regular Baptist Convention in 1955, several resolutions were directed against the Emmanuel Church (now called Kingcrest Southern Baptist Church) and the Southern Baptists. This caused Kingcrest and four other churches to withdraw from the B. C. Convention and affiliate with only the Southern Baptists in the northwest.
