The Wilderness is located south of the Rapidan River and along the Rappahannock River for 14 miles, and then about 8 or 10 miles to the south. [1] Its southern border is Spotsylvania Court House, and the western border is usually considered the Rapidan River tributary Mine Run.

Craig Creek. The wilderness lies north of and in close proximity to Blacksburg, Virginia. It extends for about 8 miles along the northwest slope of Brush Mountain, bounded to the east by a power line, to the northwest by Craig Creek and private property, and to the southeast by Forest road 188.1 along the crest of the mountain. [1]
The wilderness area is located next to the Blue Ridge Parkway near the Parkway's northern terminus and consists of 9,826 acres (39.76 km 2). Saint Mary's Wilderness is the largest Virginia Wilderness on national forest land. [2] Saint Mary's Wilderness ranges in elevation from about 1,780 feet (543 m) to 3,640 feet (1,109 m).
The Little Wilson Creek Wilderness is an area in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area protected by the Eastern Wilderness Act of Congress to maintain its present, natural condition. As part of the wilderness system, it is intended to preserve a variety of natural life forms and contribute to a diversity of plant and animal gene pools.
The Wilderness consists of 5,613 acres (22.72 km 2) of land with elevations ranging from 2,400 to 4,800 feet (730 to 1,460 m). [2] It was created from existing National Forest lands in 1984 by the Virginia Wilderness Act of 1984. [3] With its remote location, steep terrain and thick vegetation, the wilderness is rarely visited. [4]
The wilderness area is located just south of the Tye River, the Three Ridges Wilderness, and Virginia State Route 56. The wilderness consists of 5,726 acres (23.17 km 2) and ranges in elevation from 1,000 feet (305 m) at the Tye River to 4,063 feet (1,238 m) at the summit of The Priest.
