Motorenfabrik Hatz is a German manufacturer of diesel engines, based in Ruhstorf an der Rott, Lower Bavaria, Germany. [1] Especially known for its small, lightweight and robust engines, the engines are mainly used in all kinds of small construction machinery, for generators or pumps [2] [3]
The design is a four-cylinder, two-stroke, piston diesel engine, in an inverted-V configuration, with turbocharging and supercharging, mechanical fuel injection, liquid cooling, direct drive. It can run on Jet-A or sustainable aviation fuel. The manufacturer claims that it has "40 percent fewer moving parts than other engines in its category."
Both companies produced a range of small diesel engines, ranging from single-cylinder water-cooled engines of 2.7 horsepower (the 'Zeta' series) up to the 64 horsepower (48 kW) 'Delta' engine. One higher-power engine of up to 335 horsepower (250 kW), the 'Omega' is also produced under licence.
