Nov. 22—A woman on her way to becoming an Albuquerque police officer was fatally shot by her husband, who then killed himself Tuesday afternoon at an apartment in the northeast part of the city.
The daily paper's name was changed to the Albuquerque Journal in 1925 when an independent editorial policy was established. A year later, Tom Pepperday bought the Journal. Under his watch, the paper branched out into broadcasting, leasing the state's oldest radio station, KOB , in 1932 before buying it outright in 1936.
Greg Brown (November 26, 1972 – June 14, 2024) was an American basketball player and high school coach. He was known for his standout college career at the University of New Mexico, where he was Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Year in 1994 and won the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award as the nation's best player under six feet tall.

George Richard Fischbeck (July 1, 1922 – March 25, 2015) was an American television weatherman on KOB-TV in Albuquerque, New Mexico, from the early 1960s to early 1970s. In 1972 he moved to KABC-TV in Los Angeles , replacing Alan Sloane, where he became a staple on the station's Eyewitness News broadcasts.
