As of 2024, the entire Vietnam expressway system has been opened to traffic with 2,021 kilometres (1,256 mi) and is investing in building about 1,542 kilometres (958 mi). It is expected that by the end of 2025 there will be about 3,000 kilometres (1,900 mi) of expressway and by 2030 it will reach 5,000 kilometres (3,100 mi).

National Route 22 (Vietnamese: Quốc lộ 22) is a highway in southern Vietnam stretching from the northwestern outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City, the commercial centre of the country, towards the Cambodian border to the northwest. It is the main route for trade and traffic between Cambodia and southern Vietnam.
Vĩnh Xương is the location of an international border crossing with Cambodia, with the official name Sông Tiền. Its counterpart across the border is Khaorm Sam Nor Kaoh Roka border gate, Kandal Province, Cambodia. Besides conventional Vietnamese visas, this border crossing is also listed as a Vietnamese Evisa entry point for foreigners. [1]
The border starts in the north at the tripoint with Laos and then proceeds overland to the south, occasionally utilising rivers such as the Tonlé San. [2] It then turns in a broad arc to the south-west, except for the Cambodian protrusion known as the Parrot's Beak, running mostly overland but also at times using rivers such as the Vàm Cỏ Đông and the Saigon.

National Route 9 (Vietnamese: Quốc lộ 9 (or abbrv.QL9) or Đường 9) runs across Vietnam roughly in line with the 17th Parallel.The route includes two segments. The segment called National Route 9A begins at Đông Hà and ends at Lao Bảo on the Vietnam-Laos border and is entirely within Quảng Trị Province.
