La Salle University (/ l ə ˈ s æ l /) is a private, Catholic university in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The university was founded in 1863 by the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools and named for St. Jean-Baptiste de La Salle .
The history of La Salle Ozamiz dates back to the establishment of a parochial school in 1789 within the Parish of the Immaculate Conception. The school was established by the Recollect parish priest, Fr. Constancio Arsenio, OAR, with the first classes being the Cartilla, the Misterio, the Trisagio, and the Novena.
The institute also offers programs and services to improve the practice of teaching, to enhance the teaching-learning environment, and to influence education policy. It also affords training programs not only for the faculty of the university but also for other De La Salle University schools in the Philippines, external agencies, and organizations.
