King Duncan is a fictional character in Shakespeare's Macbeth. He is the father of two youthful sons ( Malcolm and Donalbain ), and the victim of a well-plotted regicide in a power grab by his trusted captain Macbeth .
Offscreen, Macbeth murders Duncan but returns back to his wife with the daggers. When Duncan is found dead, Macbeth frames Duncan's two servants by placing the bloody daggers on them. Remembering the prophecy, Banquo is suspicious of Macbeth's potential role in murdering Duncan.
