The Sternberg Women's Board-a-Match Teams bridge championship is held at the fall American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) North American Bridge Championship (NABC) and is a four session board-a-match event, two qualifying sessions and two final sessions. The event typically starts on the first Sunday of the NABC and is restricted to female players.
Rita Shugart (née Kennedy) is an American bridge player. Shugart won her first national title in 1998. [1] She won the Reisinger, arguably the most difficult of all the North American Bridge Championships to win, in consecutive years, 1998, 1999, playing four handed. [2] Shugart is the only female to win the event in over 60 years.
Margaret Wagar (1902-1990), inducted into the ACBL Bridge Hall of Fame in 1999, became Life Master #37 in 1943, the fifth woman to earn the rank. She and Kay Rhodes share one of the most remarkable achievements in ACBL history, winning the premier championship for women pairs in four consecutive years, 1955 to 1958 (Whitehead Women's Pairs).
She is said to have been the "greatest woman bridge player of all time" [2] and "may well have been the most brilliant card player of all time." [3] She won 35 North American Bridge Championships, and was the first woman to play in the Bermuda Bowl. She was a long-time partner of Charles Goren.

Tobi Sokolow (born July 15, 1942) [1] is an American bridge player. She won major tournaments as Tobi Deutsch as well. As of 2016, she ranked 10th among women in the world by masterpoints and 11th by placing points that do not decay over time.
