The house at 81 Pearl Street in Somerville, Massachusetts is a well-preserved Italianate house. The 2 + 1 ⁄ 2-story wood-frame house was built c. 1860, and features a deep front gable with paired decorative brackets, and a front porch supported by square columns, with an unusual scalloped-arch cornice trim.
The first floor has clapboard siding, and scalloped shingles are above. Raised wood decorations on the gables creates a half-timbered effect. [2] It has 23 rooms, including a card room and basement billiard room. There are seven fireplaces in the house. The original trim is still extant, and includes walnut, butternut, oak, and cherry woods.
