Chappell Hill is an unincorporated community in the eastern portion of Washington County, Texas, United States. It is located inside Stephen F. Austin's original colony, and the land is some of the oldest Anglo-settled in the state. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 600 in 2000.
The college was founded in 1850 with five teachers and 100 students [1] as Chappell Hill Institute, a boarding school; the land was donated by Jacob and Mary Haller. It was chartered by the Texas Legislature on February 9, 1852 as Chappell Hill Male and Female Institute. A second building was added that year to separate the sexes.
On May 5, 1845, Isaac B. Webb donated land for Webb's Chapel Methodist Church, the first formal place of worship in Dallas County. [9] [10] A school was established in the church one year later. Webb became the first postmaster at the Farmers Branch post office, which opened on January 5, 1848. It continued to function until its closure in 1866.

Morgan Creek rises in a pond on the Cane Creek and New Hope Creek divide about 0.5 miles northeast of Dodsons Crossroads, North Carolina. It flows into University Lake in Chapel Hill and then Morgan Creek flows southeast to meet New Hope Creek and forms the New Hope River in the B. Everett Jordan Lake Reservoir in Chatham County.
