Mayflower in Plymouth Harbor, painting by William Halsall (1882). This is a list of the passengers on board the Mayflower during its trans-Atlantic voyage of September 6 – November 9, 1620, the majority of them becoming the settlers of Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts.
Plymouth Colony (sometimes Plimouth) was the first permanent English colony in New England from 1620 and the third permanent English colony in America, after Newfoundland and the Jamestown Colony. It was settled by the passengers on the Mayflower at a location that had previously been surveyed and named by Captain John Smith .

The colonists formed their own group in Plymouth, the Undertakers, which assumed the debt. The agreement was signed in Plymouth by 27 men, including Delano, who signed as “Phillip Delanoy”. In 1627, after the institution of private property, Delano made the first recorded land sale in Plymouth to Stephen Deane.
The colony was captured by the Dutch in 1655 and merged into New Netherland, with most of the colonists remaining. Years later, the entire New Netherland colony was incorporated into England's colonial holdings. Other colonists settled to the north, mingling with adventurers and profit-oriented settlers to establish more religiously diverse colonies in New Hampshire and Maine. Massachusetts absorbed these small settlements when it made significant land claims in the 1640s and 1650s, but New Hampshire was eventually given a separate charter in 1679.
George Morton's descendants found prosperity in the New World and became leaders in business and government. Among the most notable are: Nathaniel Morton, [2] Clerk/Secretary of Plymouth Colony from 1645 until his death in 1685 and publisher of the first history of New England, New England's Memorial, Cambridge, 1669.
