Gharshana (transl. 'Friction' or 'Clash') is a 2004 Indian Telugu-language action thriller film produced by G. Sivaraju, C. Venkatraju, and Kalaipuli S. Thanu. It is directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, in his Telugu debut. It is the remake of the 2003 Tamil film, Kaakha Kaakha. [1]
Kaakha Kaakha released on 1 August 2003 to positive reviews from critics and became a commercial success at the box office. It was considered a breakthrough film for both Suriya and Menon. [2] The film was remade in Telugu as Gharshana (2004) by Menon himself and in Kannada as Dandam Dashagunam (2011).
Soon after Kaakha Kaakha's release in August 2003, Menon became attached to a Hindi remake of the film produced by Feroz Khan, with Fardeen Khan, Preity Zinta and Jeevan in the lead roles. Gautham Vasudev Menon (born 25 February 1973) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, film producer and actor who predominantly works in Tamil film industry. [2] He has also directed Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi films that were either simultaneously shot with or remakes of his own Tamil films.
T. C. Balaji (2 December 1975 – 29 March 2024), better known by his stage name Daniel Balaji, was an Indian actor, who predominantly worked in Tamil film industry and in some Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam films.
The team used posters inspired from Geethanjali (1989), Minsara Kanavu (1997), Dil Se (1998), Alaipayuthey (2000) and Kaakha Kaakha (2003).
