The Woodstock Experience is a box consisting of a set of studio albums and live performances from the 1969 Woodstock Festival by the artists Santana, Janis Joplin, Sly and the Family Stone, Jefferson Airplane, and Johnny Winter. Each set consists of the 1969 studio album by the artist as well as each artist's entire Woodstock performance.
The group's entire set was released on the 2008 box set The Woodstock Experience. The group's whole set at the festival (minus "Evil Ways") was released on the 2004 Legacy Edition of Santana. "Savor", "Soul Sacrifice", and "Fried Neck Bones and Some Homefries" was released on the 1998 reissue of Santana.
At the time of release, Woodstock 40 Years On was the most complete collection ever released of the festival, until the 50th Anniversary box set in 2019. All the artists who performed at Woodstock are featured on the album, except for Ten Years After, The Band, and the Keef Hartley Band.
Originally released on Atlantic Records' Cotillion label as a triple album on May 11, 1970, [3] it was re-released as a 4 CD box (along with Woodstock Two) by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs in 1986 followed by a two-CD set released by Atlantic in 1987.
