Batavia Downs is a harness racing track and casino in Batavia, New York. It is located in Genesee County between Buffalo and Rochester just off of the New York State Thruway (Interstate 90). It opened on September 20, 1940, and is the oldest lighted harness racetrack in the United States. The track is exactly .5 miles (0.80 km) long.

Midway through 1965 hall of fame racer Bob Zeigler sold his stock car, purchased land, formed a corporation with his brother Dick and cousin Karl John, and began building a racetrack in Evans Mills, New York. [1] [2] The facility opened in 1967 as the Evans Mills Speedway with a dirt surface, but was paved to start the 1968 racing season. [3]
There are seven racing divisions — big block modifieds, small block modifieds; sportsman, prostock, limited sportsman; super stocks, and four-cylinder competition.
