The Lebanese American University (LAU; Arabic: الجامعة اللبنانية الأميركية) is a secular private American university with campuses in Beirut, Byblos, and New York. It is chartered by the board of regents of the University of the State of New York and is recognized by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
He managed to achieve the fusion with University of Balamand in 1988. In 2000, the Academy started offering the "Interior Architecture and design and Graphic Design" programs in English under supervision of Mr. George Fiani. In 2009, the Architecture and CGIM programs were offered at Balamand Campus.
The campus is composed of 64 buildings, including the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC, formerly known as AUH – American University Hospital) [7] (420 beds), four libraries, three museums and seven dormitories. Almost one-fifth of AUB's students attended secondary school or university outside Lebanon before coming to AUB.
AUL Jadra Campus offers the American University for Humanities Degree Programs. [4] An autonomous Program of Liberal Education within the university's global network. The program is fully accredited by the American Academy for Liberal Education (AALE), [5] a national accrediting agency recognized by the United States Secretary of Education. [3]
Elsewhere in the world, Shih Chien University and Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan and the Asian University chain, Raffles College of Design and Commerce, [5] all offer fashion design courses. There are many universities that offer fashion design throughout the United States, usually within the context of a general liberal arts degree.
The university adopts the American system of education. Notre Dame University–Louaize offers 76 major fields of study [4] divided between undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Minor degree programs are also available. All the degrees offered are recognized and accredited by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE). [5]
Today, students are primarily Lebanese, as with the university. [citation needed] The school celebrated its Centennial on June 24, 2005, and in June 2011, ACS Beirut celebrated the graduation of its 100th graduating class. Dr. George H. Damon Jr. remained Headmaster of the school from 2003 till his retirement in 2013. [1]
