Mayer (/ ˈ m eɪ ər / MAY-ər) is a community in Carver County, Minnesota, United States, along the South Fork of the Crow River. The population was 1,749 at the 2010 census . [ 4 ]
County Road 23 is a short north-south county route in west-central Carver County. It serves the city of Mayer. [1] It starts at First Street and heads north as Bluejay Avenue. Outside of Mayer, it is known as just "County Road 23". It ends at State Highway 7 and continues as County Road 123. The route is about one mile (1.6 km) long. [1]
The entire city of Watertown and a portion of the city of Mayer are located within the township geographically but are separate entities. Township 117 North, Range 25 West, Fifth Principal Meridian of the Public Land Survey System.
The Minnesota River flows east-northeasterly along the county's southern border. The South Fork of the Crow River flows northeasterly through the upper western and central portions of the county. Carver Creek flows southeasterly from the county's central area, discharging into the Minnesota at the county's southern border.
The southwest quarter of the city of Mayer and the entire city of New Germany are located within the township geographically but are separate entities. Township 116 North, Range 26 West, Fifth Principal Meridian of the Public Land Survey System.
Norwood Young America is a city in Carver County, Minnesota, United States, located about 40 miles west of Minneapolis. The city was formed in 1997 from the merging of two formerly independent cities, Norwood and Young America , which had been founded in the 19th century.

In early 2010, Carver County began construction of the section from St. Bonifacius to Mayer. The first trail section runs 7 miles (11 km). It officially opened on May 21, 2011. Carver County extended the trail in 2012 from Mayer, west through New Germany to the Carver/McLeod County Line. The second section runs for 5.5 miles (8.9 km).
