Every County Auditor is required by Ohio Law to value all properties in their respective County, at fair market value, twice during a six year cycle. The cycle begins with a reappraisal and revaluation of all properties.
The Homestead Exemption allows low-income senior citizens and permanently and totally disabled Ohioans to reduce their property tax bills by shielding some of the market value of their homes from taxation. Applications may be filed with the County Auditor on or before December 31 of the current calendar year.
Each of Hamilton County's more than 350,000 parcels has been viewed. Data is being collected, reviewed, and corrected where necessary, and tentative values will be assigned to each parcel during the first half of 2023.
The purpose of transferring deeds through the Auditor is to maintain an accurate record of property ownership and parcel identification and to collect conveyance fees required by Ohio Revised Code (ORC) Section 319.20 and 322.02.
