The name "Parkway" was in honor of the Daniel Boone Parkway, which is also known as Highway 40 (now I-64). The road passes through the center of the district. The word Consolidated was later dropped as sounding too rural in the rapidly growing and changing district. Parkway Central was the first high school built in the new district.

West Carrollton High School is a public high school in West Carrollton, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the West Carrollton City School District. Athletic teams are known as the "Pirates" and the school colors are scarlet and black. As of the 2013–14 school year, the school has an enrollment of approximately 900 students. [2]
