El Camino College (Elco or ECC) is a public community college in Los Angeles County, California. Most of it is in Alondra Park, [3] [4] while a section is in the city limits of Torrance. [5] It consists of 37 buildings spanning an area of roughly 26 acres (11 ha). It is one of two community colleges serving Southern California's South Bay area.

The four large schools, Ledyard, New London, Fitch and East Lyme announced that they would be leaving the ECC and forming a new conference named the Southeastern Connecticut Athletic Conference. During that same time five other schools, Bacon Academy, Waterford, Montville, Wheeler and Stonington applied to join the shoreline conference. [ 1 ]
ECC competes as member of the NJCAA in the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference. Since 2008, ECC's sports teams have been known as the East Central Falcons. [4] "Rebels" was the original mascot of the college, but the name was dropped due to its ties to the Civil War and the Confederacy. [5] The mascot is named "Franklin" the Falcon.
