A former Jurys Inn in Brighton. The heritage of the Jurys Group can be traced back to 1881, when William Jury opened his first boarding house in Dublin.The first Doyle Hotel, The Montrose, was built in Stillorgan, Dublin, in 1964 by PV Doyle. 1993 saw the introduction of the Jurys Inns brand with the opening of the Galway and Christchurch (Dublin) Inns in April and May, respectively.
In 1999, the Jurys hotel group acquired Doyle Hotels and became the Jurys Doyle Hotel Group, the largest hotel group in Ireland. [7] It initially comprised the Jurys Inn chain of middle-market hotels as well as the Jurys Doyle properties, the former being sold in 2007.
The Imperial Hotel was a hotel in Dublin's principal thoroughfare, Sackville Street, until it was destroyed during the Easter Rising of 1916. The building comprised Clerys department store on the lower floors and the Imperial Hotel on upper floors situated opposite the General Post Office and Nelson's Pillar .
The hotel was founded in 1751 as a pair of buildings making up a coaching inn on Dawson Street. [3] [4] Following the Acts of Union 1800, the premises became popular with wealthy British and Irish countrymen visiting Dublin. In the early 19th century, the buildings were a coaching business run by Kenny Bourne and Mr Hartley.
The Ilac Centre is the oldest shopping centre in the city and has an entrance onto Parnell Street. [7] The construction of the centre involved the wholesale demolition of hundreds of buildings and many streets and laneways including the disappearance of prominent connecting streets such as Little Denmark Street.
