At the top - Contacts that you've interacted with the most will be displayed first, followed by contacts with fewer interactions (sent emails). This is not in alphabetical order. In Between - Contacts with no interactions will be displayed in alphabetical order. At the bottom - Contact lists will be displayed in alphabetical order.

Contacts is a computerized address book software included with the Apple operating systems iOS, iPadOS, watchOS and macOS. If you disable Enhanced Contacts, any info that was previously saved from your contact's emails will be removed. 1. Click the Settings icon | select More Settings. 2. Click Contacts. 3. Click Disable next to Enhance Contacts. 4. Alternatively, click Enable if you change your mind.
