Kingston is located at the intersection of Arkansas highways 21 and 74. [5] It is 18 miles (29 km) east of Huntsville, the Madison county seat, by Highway 74, and 35 miles (56 km) southwest of Harrison. Kingston is located in the Kings River valley. Huntsville is also home to the second largest research park in the country, Cummings Research Park. The Huntsville–Decatur Metro Area is the second fastest growing region/metro area in the state of Alabama because of the ample job opportunities being instilled in the area. Both ports in the metro area are two of the busiest in the state.
The Huntsville Airport land was purchased from Bryan and Kathleen Mitchusson in November of 1983, with construction starting shortly afterward. The land was purchased with grant money that the State of Arkansas reserves from aviation fuel sales tax and aviation-related sales tax. The 3600′ runway is the highest airport elevation in Arkansas.
