Alexander Gus Spanos (September 28, 1923 – October 9, 2018) was an American billionaire real estate developer, founder of the A. G. Spanos Companies, and the majority owner of the San Diego / Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL).
The Spanos family owns 69% of the Chargers with 4% controlled by legacy owners from the franchise's early days in San Diego. Alex Spanos bought the San Diego Chargers in 1984 and Dean Spanos took over managing the franchise in 1994. The Chargers moved to Los Angeles in 2017 after years of trying to get a new stadium in San Diego.
